Open Universities Australia (OUA) Renovation
The Open Universities Australia (OUA) Renovation pilot project was a strategic initiative established to implement the objectives of the Faculty of Arts Strategic Plan. Aligning to Learning and Teaching objectives, a model of continuous improvement to online unit delivery focused on: the clear articulation of learning outcomes to content and assessment, and the development of innovative and effective approaches to the integration of rich media content within an online teaching and learning environment.
Project Outputs and Outcomes
The Open Universities Australia (OUA) Renovation was able to achieve the project outcomes. Upon completion of this 6-month pilot project, we:
- Delivered all the 17 renovated units on time.
- Developed a model for continuous unit review.
- Disseminated the project process and models.
- Ensured that improvements were made to the student learning experience.
Overall there was a positive impact on the student learning experience with the new content and resources as well as any quality and compliance issues addressed during the renovation process. The unit convenors and unit coordinators were engaged in the renovation process and the success of the project would not have been possible without their support. The project developed models of renovations and support as well as processes for the creation of media-rich resources, where possible this has been worked into day-to-day operations, however, there will be opportunities to explore the potential of these models in future projects within the Faculty and in the University more broadly.
